Mission Forward helps us engage fully as devoted disciples and allows us to fund our missions and compassion efforts locally and globally. This is our way of giving above and beyond tithes to move the Mission Forward. We are actively involved in supporting more than 35 missionaries on 5 continents and we partner with Convoy of Hope and Priority One in their projects that have a global impact. Prayerfully consider how God would want you to personally engage this process as part of the SLC family.
Every year we partner with FeedONE, a Convoy of Hope initiative that provides food and clean water for children worldwide for only $10 per child each month. Currently, SLC is sponsoring a school in Tanzania and an orphanage in Haiti. When our church supports a FeedONE community, we not only open the door to food, education, clean water but to the Gospel.
Priority One is dedicated to Christian leadership development through the building of Bible Training Centers around the world. They work closely with leadership development organizations around the world by responding to their urgent and long-term needs. They fund bricks and mortar solutions including classrooms, dormitories and libraries but have also delivered e-readers loaded with curriculum, financed water wells, and provided motorcycles and bicycles to pastors serving remote areas.
As a faith-based, nonprofit organization, Convoy of Hope has helped more than 80 million people throughout the world by sharing food, water, emergency supplies, agricultural know-how, and opportunities that empower people to live independent lives, free from poverty, disease and hunger.
Convoy of Hope does this through mobilizing tens of thousands of volunteers each year, and partnering with churches, businesses, individuals and other humanitarian organizations who are intent on doing good work among the impoverished and suffering.
Helping our local community throughout the year is a passion of ours, and we want everyone to have the chance to get involved! There are several things we do each year when it comes to giving back to our community in a real and practical way, and also in a way that shows Christ's love.
Outreach to local schools is one of our top priorities, and there are many ways that we work to meet the needs of students in our community. We provide school supplies, volunteer at school events serving food or giving haircuts or simply smiling and welcoming people as they arrive. We also make hygiene packs and collect food for at-risk children in our local middle school, so that we can provide for their most basic needs. Additionally, we engage with the Bethel School District and support them in making a difference on a larger scale.
The Giving Tree provides gifts to struggling families through our local school districts, providing gifts during the Christmas season.
Stop by the Christmas tree in the center of the lobby at the Main Campus, take a tag, buy a gift, and bring it back so we can bless families in our community!
Easter Eggstravaganza is the largest outreach event of the year on the Saturday before Easter. This is a free event to our community and there's many ways to be involved: stuff plastic eggs, donate candy, purchase inexpensive ($5-10) age-appropriate (0-12 yrs) prizes, and volunteer the day of the event!
Olive Crest is dedicated to Preventing child abuse, to Treating and Educating at-risk children and to Preserving the family… “One Life at a Time.”® There are 10,665 children in our state’s welfare system, many of which are in foster care. Olive Crest’s areas of outreach and service include: Child Abuse Prevention; Homes for Children, Teens, and Aged-Out Youth, Educational Support and Services, Adoption Placement and Support, Independent Life Skills Training and Mentoring, Counseling and Mental Health Treatment, and Family Crisis Intervention.
