Cynthia Philebaum

Where did you grow up?
Born and raised in Oceanside, California.

Where did you go to college? What degree did you earn?
Was a part of Master's Commission (a ministry discipleship program) in Clearwater, Florida as a student for 3 years and as a staff member for 2. While there and as I moved to WA, I finished my B.A. in Photography from The Art Institute, Online Division. 

What are your areas of ministry at SLC?
I assist Cal & Tina Carpenter, so I help them with anything to do with First Impressions, Women's Ministry, and Corporate related tasks and projects. I also volunteer with the Students ministry. Another primary role I have is on our Corporate Communications team where I create and manage the Social Media content, weekly email, and other forms of communication to SLC.

Where is your favorite place in the world?
I would say the Oceanside Pier & Harbor (which is in my hometown), walking with an ice cream cone or yummy treat.

What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about exploring new places. I am always wanting to try a new restaurant, go on a new hike or travel to a new state or country. I guess you could say I appreciate the unknown surprises and learning as I go.

What is your favorite movie?
I love watching new movies, but I would say my top 5 favorite movies, in no particular order are: Forrest Gump, Ever After, The Sound Of Music, Pitch Perfect, and Grease.

What are you currently watching on Netflix?
Parks & Recreation and The Office are my husband and I's go-to shows that we switch off re-watching continuously. Because life always needs comic relief. 

Where is one place in the world you dream of visiting?
I dream of going on a Holy Land Cruise that goes to all the countries referenced in the Bible, so all around the Mediterranean Sea. 

What is your favorite type of ice cream?
Well usually coffee, but butter pecan is a close second. I just love ice cream.

What is something most people don’t know about you?
I took all styles of dance classes from ages 5-17. I was in my middle school and high school dance team and loved dancing, still do, but don't do it in the same capacity.

What is your favorite family tradition?
My favorite family tradition would be opening up a gift on Christmas Eve with my siblings. Now that we are all adults it is different, but I still carry on the tradition with my husband. 

What is something on your bucket list?
Skydiving.

Which do you like better: dogs or cats?
Dogs forever. Specifically my beagle Forrest. He is the best.

What is your Starbuck’s go-to order?
Vanilla sweet cream cold brew when it's hot outside, or toffee nut latte in cold weather.
